OVET is the stevedoring company in the south of the Netherlands, founded in 1957, situated on both sides of the estuary of the Western Scheldt estuary and specialises in the transhipment, storage and processing of bulk products, particularly in the field of solid fuels and ores.
Its main clients are steel companies, power stations and traders. The products mentioned above are used by clients as fuel, raw material, or semi finished product.
OVET distinguishes itself from other stevedoring companies by only making use of floating / mobile loading and unloading installations in order to make transhipment of the products in the Western Scheldt estuary and in all the Scheldt ports and docks possible.
OVET has consciously selected a management system aimed at strengthening existing partner relationships, broadening service provision and optimising internal business operation, in order to safeguard the continuity of the company. The head of QHSE has been appointed management representative.
In the context of the policy stated above OVET considers itself obligated and sets itself the continual objective to:
- follow strictly the conditions and rules that result from legislation and regulations and the requirements stated in the GMP regulations for the animal feed sector and to anticipate future developments;
- motivate its employees and to stimulate them in their development and capability to be able to fulfil their function in a responsible manner within the HQSE requirements and to make facilities and information available to them to allow them to think and act with HQSE awareness;
- conduct active improvement management, directed towards continuous improvement of processes with the aim of increasing customer satisfaction;
- control impact of all activities on neighbours and society in general and to make efforts to reduce these as far as that is technically and economically possible, with the objective of preventing nuisance to the environment and to strive towards a continual improvement in performance;
- accept full responsibility to undertake the actions prescribed in the GMP regulations whenever - despite every precaution - products are supplied that do not meet the restrictions of the GMP regulations.

In this way OVET wants to be transparent towards clients, employees, suppliers, government bodies, shareholders and neighbours, not as a fortunate coincidence, but continually and according to agreements made. The quality of the organisation finally determines the quality of the services to be supplied.
This policy declaration is binding. All employees, regardless of their place in the organisation, are jointly responsible for its successful implementation. Management will monitor and support the implementation, take suggestions seriously and decide about ideas for improvement.
